What's New? — the content-tracking app
Adding something to follow
- From the catalog. Open Explore → Discover and follow any source listed there. Catalog sources are free and need no sign-in.
- Any other site. Open Add source and paste the address. Paste the page that lists the new things you want — a blog's post list, a news section, a changelog — rather than the site's home page.
- From your browser. On the page you want to follow, tap Share → What's New?. The address is filled in for you; nothing is added until you confirm.
When a site cannot be set up
Many sites publish a feed and are added at once. A page with no feed needs AI-assisted setup, which you are asked to allow first; the app then shows you a preview of what it found, and the site is added only if you confirm it.
Setup does not work on every page. The usual reasons are that the page opens only after signing in, that the site refuses automated visits, or that the page has no clear list of items. The card in Following → Manage says which one applies. A specific public page of the same site often works where another did not.
Free slots
Sites from the catalog are always free. Any other site uses one of your free slots, and Premium removes the limit. A site you are still reviewing holds a slot; declining it, a failed setup, or letting the review expire returns it. If a site used one of your free slots, deleting it later does not return the slot.
Notifications
- For one source. In Following → Manage, tap the bell on a source to be told when it has something new.
- For a topic. In Alerts, create an alert with the words you care about to be told when a new item matches.
The app checks your sources in the background, so a notification can arrive some time after a site publishes. If notifications come very late or not at all, allow notifications for What's New? in your phone's settings and exclude the app from battery optimization.
Subscription
Premium is bought and managed through Google Play. To change or cancel it, open your Google Play subscriptions (Play Store → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions).
Your account and data
You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account; the account deletion page describes what is removed. What the app collects and why is in the Privacy Policy.
